9/6/02: TJ and Raven are going to two wonderful women in Virginia!!!!! 11/24/02 Update: Raven was adopted by a wonderful woman here in Ohio along with TJ. Both are now in training. The woman shows dressage and has high hopes for both of them. I am so tickled she saw beyond Raven's physical flaw and looked deeper into the fact that the mare is sweet, kind and also very athletic, with a beautiful trot and canter. Jill/Ohio ![]() 1.) TJ-he is a sound, flashy 4 year old copper chestnut Arabian, about 14.3 with pretty blaze. TJ is gaining his weight back well. He is a little shy around the ears putting his halter on but we're working on it, otherwise seems to like brushing and attention. He is up to date on all his shots, worming and had his teeth checked too. I don't know if he is broke to ride but the lady I got him from did say that she sat on him all the time while he was eating. This guy has a really nice personality and is very smart. Adoption fee of $400.00-just what was paid for him. |

From: "Willow290" bjwei@bright.net Date: Wed Aug 28, 2002 10:48 am Subject: Has anyone ever rescued a horse this thin? In Ohio. . . Guess I just need to vent and share. . .I uploaded pictures of Mac to the photos area-titled McFlurry. I've dealt with some very skinny horses over the years, but have never seen one this skinny still alive. His side picture is deceiving-the coat pattern makes him look more rounded, when in all actuality his backbone sticks up about 4 inches and every vertebrae is visible. Every rib is very pronounced. He has no inner flesh on his back legs as you can see. Surprisingly, Mac does have the will to live and still has a sparkle in his eye. How someone could let an animal get like this is beyond me!! It makes me so angry!! :( 9/6: Mac is doing just great! He is starting to gain a tiny amount of weight and his energy level is increasing. Mac is one of the sweetest, kindest horses I'd had the pleasure to be around. The most amazing thing is that his attitude for life is so great. He has such a gleam in is eye. I have him on Buckeye Maturity feed and a small amount of Alfalfa pellets which he adores. This weekend I am going to add Buckeye's Ultimate Finish to his ration to help up the calories but not overload him with a larger amount of feed than his belly can handle. Thanks for that good suggestion from Tammy of Virginia Beach! :) I have to tell a small story here. The other night, as I was cleaning stalls, a white car pulled up to the barn. An older man and woman got out of the car and asked to see Mac up close. They had seen him out in the pasture and thought he looked very thin and were worried. They wanted to know his story. So I took them in the barn to see Mac, who was just finishing up his supper. The woman immediately had tears streaming down her face and her husband all of a sudden had a suspicious case of the sniffles. The lady just kept softly saying over and over: "Who could do such a thing? Who could do this to him?" Then she pushed a $20.00 bill into my hand and said it was to help with Mac's feed. Now I KNOW that this couple was probably on a fixed income and that $20.00 was alot to spare out of their budget. I of course tried to give it back. But she gripped my hands really tight and begged me to keep it, that they wanted to help. You know, we see so much negativity in the world today and then something like this happens to make you believe in people again. Mac also has an elderly gentleman bringing him small soft apples almost everyday. The man puts a small box of them by the barn door-labeled "for Mac". Cool huh?? :) |
